Delete your yOdin account

This page explains how to delete your yOdin account and what happens to your data. See also the privacy policy.
Delete it yourself, in the app
- Open yOdin and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Tap the menu button (☰) in the top right corner of the purple banner. A panel slides in from the side.
- At the bottom of that panel, tap Delete account — it is the last item, directly below Log out.
- Read what will be removed, enter your password to confirm, and tap Delete permanently.
Deletion starts immediately. There is no waiting period and no way to undo it, so make sure you have saved anything you want to keep before you confirm.
If you no longer have the app
Email hello@onlymaxon.com from the address you registered with, asking us to delete your account. We reply within 30 days, and usually much sooner. We may ask you to confirm from that address if the request arrives from somewhere else — otherwise anyone could delete your account by writing to us.
What is deleted
Everything below is removed permanently:
| Data | Notes |
|---|---|
| Your account and sign-in credentials | You can no longer sign in |
| Profile — name, @handle, bio, nationality, country, languages, profile photo | — |
| Your posts and your discussions | Including replies and comments other people left under them |
| Photos and videos you uploaded | Removed from file storage |
| Likes, saved items, event sign-ups | — |
| Who you follow, and your place in other people’s follower lists | — |
| Notifications addressed to you | — |
| Your block list | — |
What is kept, and why
| Data | Kept for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Replies and comments you left under other people’s posts and discussions, with your name, photo, nationality and country removed | Indefinitely, anonymised | Deleting them would tear holes in other people’s conversations and remove answers other readers rely on. They no longer identify you |
| Your @handle | Indefinitely, reserved | So nobody can register your old handle and inherit mentions of you |
| Reports you filed about other people’s content | 12 months after they are resolved | So moderation decisions can be reviewed |
| A one-way keyed hash of your email address — only if your account had moderation strikes or bans | 12 months | To stop someone who was banned from immediately registering again. It cannot be turned back into your email address, and it is not kept for accounts with a clean record |
| Copies in encrypted backups | Up to 30 days | Backups expire on their own schedule |
Nothing in the “kept” column is used to contact you or to build a profile of you, and none of it is shared with anyone.
Deleting some data without deleting your account
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove things:
- A post or discussion you wrote — open it, then use the delete action.
- Profile details — the same side panel has Edit profile, where you can change or clear your photo, bio, and the other fields.
To request removal of a specific reply or comment that stayed behind after an account deletion, write to hello@onlymaxon.com.
